OpenGate Weapons Detection Screening Communication
Henry County Schools establishes a standard process for weapon detection screening across all secondary schools. This includes a streamlined, consistent implementation of weapon detection screening protocols for school admin, staff, and Campus Safety Monitors. Weapon detection screening provides an additional safety layer that helps to ensure the well-being of teachers, students, and staff members. These dates will not be preannounced.
Key Reminders when Weapons Detection is used:

- Enhanced Safety: CEIA OpenGate weapons detection systems are implemented to protect students and staff by identifying potential threats efficiently.
- Clear Protocols: Due to detection system triggers, students will be asked to remove 3-ring binders, laptops, metal lunchboxes, magnetic eyeglass cases, umbrellas, and large keyrings must be handed to staff to pass around the system.
- Safe Technology: OpenGate uses non-radiative, low-frequency electromagnetic fields, safe for all, including children and those with medical devices.
- Community Support: Resources, training, and open communication maintain a smooth transition and address concerns.
